It is the home stadium for the University of Michigan .Michigan Stadium is the third largest staium in the world and the 31st largest sports venue including auto racing and horse racing tracks, among others.Michigan Stadium was built in 1927 at a cost of $950,000 and had an original capacity of 72,000. Before playing football at the stadium, the wolverines played on Ferry Field.The first match in the stadium was played between the University of Michigan and Ohio Wesleyan on 1 st October, 1927. Initially, the stadium had a seating arrangement for 72,000 spectators. Through several renovations, the capacity of the stadium was increased to 107,501 in 1998 and it remains the same till date.
